As skin ages, production of collagen and elastin which give the skin its strength and elasticity reduces. The repetition of skin creasing by our expressions breaks collagen and can create permanent lines.
Book a consultation with our Registered Nurses to discuss the options available that are effective & non-surgical which relax the muscle and allow the skin and collagen to repair. This prescription only muscle relaxant blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles. The muscle can no longer contract which causes the wrinkles to relax and soften and may assist in temporarily softening the appearance of fine lines by reducing targeted muscle activity. Individual results and suitability vary and will be discussed during your consultation with our qualified practitioner.

How many treatments will I need?
The duration of results from muscle relaxant treatments can vary between individuals and may be influenced by a range of factors, including muscle activity, metabolism, and lifestyle. Some clients choose to maintain their results with repeat treatments every 3 to 4 months. Your registered nurse will discuss a treatment plan tailored to your goals and explain what may be realistic for you.
Is there any down-time?
There is no down-time. The procedure takes approximately 30 minutes altogether, including consultation. You can return to work immediately after if you plan on having this procedure in your lunch break.
The only thing you must avoid is exercise for the next 24 - 48 hours post treatment. This is to ensure you do not sweat out any of the product via the pores, which will make your treatment ineffective. You may get a little bruise and cannot cover it with make-up immediately. We recommend not applying make up for 12-24 hours after treatment.
Are there any side effects?
Most side effects are rare, the main one's that are more common include; redness, swelling and bruising. However, these are also quite rare, and fade over a few hours - days. There is a chance for brow heaviness in some clients. This is where the forehead becomes too heavy which feels as though it is pushing down on the brow. It is only minimal and should resolve itself after 4 weeks or so. And for some other clients, there is a chance of a very rare complication of true eyelid ptosis and this results from the muscle relaxant getting into the muscle that raises the eyelid. When the product is placed too low, it will be weakened and the eyelid cannot be opened. In some cases there is a partial ptosis (drooping of the lid) or a complete ptosis where the lid is totally closed and cannot be opened until the muscle relaxant wears off, which can be months. Again, this is an extremely rare complication and is usually seen with unqualified persons. The team at Lilly Cosmetic Clinic are highly trained and have been practising for many years. We continue to attend refresher & safety courses.
